Chotto Matte Manchester

Carla Raads Brings Her Signature Touch to Chotto Matte Manchester

When global restaurant brand Chotto Matte opened the doors to its vibrant new Manchester location, it continued its tradition of collaborating with talented local artists to transform its spaces into immersive works of art. Among these creatives is Carla Raads, a local contemporary artist celebrated for her bold, expressive style and innovative use of light-reactive materials.

A celebration of Anthesis

For her latest commission, Carla was invited to reimagine one of Chotto Matte’s most photographed spaces – the bathrooms, which have become an iconic design feature across all Chotto Matte venues worldwide. Her mural, painted in striking UV-reactive neon acrylics, captures the delicate yet powerful moment of anthesis – when a flower reaches its fullest bloom.

This concept of transformation and peak vitality is at the heart of Carla’s work. By interpreting the fleeting beauty of a flower in bloom through vivid neon tones, she creates an environment that transcends traditional art-viewing – inviting guests into a multi-sensory, immersive experience that comes alive under ultraviolet light.

A fusion of art, light and experience

Carla’s mural not only complements Chotto Matte’s eclectic aesthetic – a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian influences – but also amplifies the brand’s spirit of creativity, inclusivity, and innovation. The result is a space that feels both intimate and electric, where every corner invites interaction, reflection, and of course, the perfect photo moment.

"Anthesis represents a moment of pure vitality - a snapshot of beauty at its most alive. I wanted to capture that feeling in colour, light, and texture, creating a space that feels both otherworldly and connected to nature."
